Notification Preferences

Control how and when Stage Kids Portal contacts you.

Stay informed about your children's dance classes with notifications tailored to your preferences. Here's how to customise what you receive and when.

Accessing Notification Settings

  1. Log in to Stage Kids Portal
  2. Click your profile icon
  3. Select Settings
  4. Click Notifications

Types of Notifications

Class Reminders

Reminders before your child's classes:

  • 1 day before: Helpful for preparation
  • 1 hour before: Last-minute reminder
  • Morning of: Start of day reminder

Choose one or more options, or turn off if not needed.

Payment Notifications

Keep track of your account:

  • Invoice sent: When a new invoice is generated
  • Payment due: Reminder before due date
  • Payment confirmed: Receipt of payment
  • Failed payment: If a payment doesn't go through

Studio Announcements

Important updates from the studio:

  • Class cancellations
  • Schedule changes
  • Holiday dates
  • Concert information
  • Special events

Recommended: Keep these enabled to avoid missing important updates.

Progress Updates

Updates about your child's development:

  • New achievements or badges
  • Teacher feedback available
  • Assessment results
  • Certificate availability

Marketing Communications

Optional promotional messages:

  • Holiday programs
  • New class offerings
  • Special workshops
  • Studio events

You can opt out of marketing while keeping essential notifications.

Notification Methods

Email Notifications

  • Detailed information with links
  • Easy to refer back to
  • Best for non-urgent communications
  • Can include attachments (invoices, etc.)

SMS Notifications

  • Quick, immediate alerts
  • Best for urgent notifications
  • Limited to important updates
  • Standard message rates may apply

Push Notifications

If you've installed our app:

  • Instant alerts on your device
  • Can be snoozed or dismissed
  • Customisable sounds

In-App Notifications

  • Visible when you log in
  • Notification badge shows unread count
  • History of all notifications

Setting Your Preferences

Step-by-Step

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Review each category
  3. Toggle on/off as desired
  4. Select your preferred method(s)
  5. Click Save

Category Settings

For each notification type, choose:

  • On/Off: Whether to receive it
  • Method: Email, SMS, push, or all
  • Timing: When to receive (where applicable)

For Busy Parents

Minimal but important notifications:

  • Class reminders: 1 day before
  • Payment due reminders: On
  • Studio announcements: On (email only)
  • Marketing: Off

For Engaged Parents

Stay fully informed:

  • Class reminders: 1 day and 1 hour before
  • All payment notifications: On
  • Studio announcements: On (email and push)
  • Progress updates: On
  • Marketing: On

For Multiple Children

When managing several schedules:

  • Class reminders: 1 day before (daily digest)
  • Consolidated notifications: On
  • Individual child notifications: Optional

Managing Notification Volume

Too Many Notifications?

If you're receiving too many:

  1. Review which categories are enabled
  2. Consider daily digest instead of individual
  3. Turn off marketing if not interested
  4. Use email instead of SMS for non-urgent

Not Enough Notifications?

If you're missing important updates:

  1. Check spam/junk folder for emails
  2. Verify your phone number is correct
  3. Enable SMS for urgent notifications
  4. Allow push notifications on your device

Per-Child Notifications

If you have multiple children:

  • Receive combined or separate notifications
  • Set different preferences per child
  • Use colour-coding to distinguish

Do Not Disturb

Quiet Hours

Set times when you don't want notifications:

  • Overnight quiet hours (e.g., 9pm - 7am)
  • Emergency notifications still come through
  • Non-urgent held until quiet hours end

Temporary Mute

Going on holiday or need a break?

  • Mute non-essential notifications temporarily
  • Set an end date
  • Emergency/urgent still come through

Email Preferences

Email Frequency

Choose how often you receive emails:

  • Immediately: As events happen
  • Daily digest: Once per day summary
  • Weekly summary: Weekly roundup

Email Format

  • Full HTML: Rich formatting with images
  • Simple: Text-focused, loads faster
  • Plain text: No formatting

Unsubscribing

From Marketing Only

Click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of marketing emails. This doesn't affect essential communications.

From All Communications

Not recommended, but if you want to stop all emails:

  1. Contact us to discuss
  2. Some communications are required for enrolled families
  3. We'll help find a solution

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Emails

  • Check spam/junk folder
  • Add our email to your contacts
  • Verify your email address is correct
  • Check with your email provider

Not Receiving SMS

  • Verify your phone number
  • Check you haven't blocked our number
  • Ensure SMS notifications are enabled
  • Contact us if issues persist
